Rugby Football Union Account Guide
If you need to log in and use Rugby Football Union services, please remember to use your Rugby Football Union Microsoft 365 account. If you have forgotten your login details, please use the helpful user guide below to regain access:
• How to logon to Office 365 at portal.office.com
• The credentials you should use.
• The steps you need to complete the first time you log in to Office 365.
• Show you the Office 365 homepage from where you can access your new email via Outlook and other Office applications such Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
• The steps you need to reset or change your password.
How To Log Into Your Account:
1. Open a web browser, (Google Chrome) is the most reliable browser at present to use with Office 365 for Apple or Windows devices.
2. If you currently use another Office 365 account for business or personal use, please ensure that you open you web browser with Incognito mode. Google Chrome will not remember activity to these other accounts.
3. At the top right, click More
New Incognito Window. A new windows appears. In the top corner, check for the Incognito icon
4. Go to portal.office.com and Select Sign in
5. When prompted at the Microsoft sign in page, enter your new RFU account user name (for example first name, last name @rfu.com email address) and click next.
6. You will then be presented with the following RFU Single Sign On page. Enter your password and Click Sign in.
7. On the More information required screen click Next.
Account Security:
To avoid getting locked out of your email account, you can register for RFU’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) service.
You will be prompted to register the first time you login to Office 365.
SSPR will enable you to reset your password for Office 365 at any time without the need to contact the IT Service Desk.
You will need to register an alternative means of communication, either an email address or a phone number to enable you to be contacted to confirm your identity during the password reset process.
How To Register An Alternative Email Address:
1. On the RFU More information required screen click Next.
2. On the Don’t lose access to your account! screen, select Set it up now under Authentication email.
3. Enter your alternate email address and click Email me.
4. You will receive an email to your alternate email address with a code. Enter the code and click Verify
.
How To Register A Mobile Number:
1. On the Don’t lose access to your account! screen, select Set it up now under Authentication Phone.
2. Choose the region of your phone number and enter your phone number. Choose you would like to receive the code via text.
3. You will receive a text to your phone with a code. Enter the code and click Verify
4. Click Finish on the Don’t lose access to your account screen.
Rugby Football Union Microsoft Office 365 Homepage:
1. Once you have successfully completed the initial login and SSPR registration you will be directed to the Stay signed in screen.
If you select the option Don’t show this message again and then click Yes this will reduce the amount of times you are requested to sign on.
2. You will now be directed to the Office 365 homepage.
From here you will have access to your email using Outlook, personal file storage and collaboration using OneDrive, along with browser-based versions of various Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
Change Your Password:
1. As the RFU IT Service Desk has setup your RFU account it is advisable to reset your password to a new one.
2. To change your
password go to the
settings cog
which will open a new menu and will display the
Change your password option.
3. Enter your old password and create a new password. Once your new password has been confirmed by adding the new password twice, select Submit
4. You will then be redirected back to the Office 365 Portal.
5. Please note that when you receive a password expiry notification email you can reset your password by following the steps above.
6. If your password has already expired and you are unable access your RFU account please continue to the next step.
Reset Your Password:
1. If you lost or forgot your Office 365 password or get notified that your password has expired, you can change or reset it.
2. Go to portal.office.com and select Sign in
3. Once redirected to the Sign in option, select the Can’t access your account link.
4. Select Work or School account.
5. Enter your RFU credentials in the User ID: FirstNameLastName@RFU.com and enter the characters provided in the picture where prompted clicking next.
6. In the Get Back into your account menu, select I forgot my password and click next.
7. For verification step 1 select your chosen first contact method which will be used for verification. In this example Text my mobile phone which was registered when first signing into your RFU account.
8. Enter the verification code which is sent to your mobile.
9. For verification step 2 select your chosen second contact method which will be used for verification. In this example Email my alternate email which was registered when first signing into your RFU account.
10. Verify your details once more and you will be redirected to the Choose a new password screen.
11. After entering your new password you will be presented with the successful password reset screen.
12. Select the Sign in with your new password option.
